⚽ Launching soon — building our founding fan & host network

Verified fan stays for match nights.

Hotels are £300. Stay with a verified local fan for £50–£80 instead. AwayStays connects travelling football fans with trusted local hosts for finals, away days and tournaments — a safer, cheaper place to sleep near the match.

No bookings yet. Join the early access list and we'll be in touch for your team, event or city.

Following your team shouldn't cost more than the flight.

Hotels surge

Around finals, away days and tournaments, prices triple overnight — or sell out completely.

Fans get priced out

You end up miles from the action, on a ridiculous route, or sleeping in a car park.

Existing apps are generic

Airbnb isn't built for matchnight trust, and travel packages are premium and ticket-led.

A trusted, fan-to-fan way to stay near the match.

AwayStays is accommodation-first and football-first. Verified local hosts offer spare rooms and sofa beds for specific matches — you request, message, and only pay once the host approves you.

Trust is the whole point.

A home stay is more personal than a hotel room. We're building the checks and controls to make it feel safe for both sides.

  • ID verification for hosts and guests (planned).
  • Request-only — hosts approve every stay. No instant booking.
  • House rules shown before you pay.
  • Exact address released only after payment.
  • Secure payments through a regulated provider (planned).
  • Reviews after stays, plus support and reporting.

AwayStays is building a verified, safer booking process. Hosts are responsible for checking they have permission and suitable insurance to host paying guests. Platform protection and insurance partnerships are being explored for a future launch.

More than a bed.

Hosts can offer matchday extras too — handy whether you need a room or just somewhere to park and drop your bag.

Why I'm building this

I'm a lifelong Manchester United fan. When the Europa League final came to Bilbao, I already had a ticket — but hotels in the city were going for over £2,000 for the two nights. Flights from London were another £2,000 on top. Nearly £4,000 just to watch my team in a final.

I wasn't willing to miss it, so after hours of research I pieced together a route nobody sensible would choose. The day before the final I flew London to Marseille, spent the day there, then caught a bus all the way to Bilbao. We arrived at 3:30am on the morning of the match. I slept on a bench until the city woke up.

I watched United devastatingly lose the final, then caught a bus from Bilbao to Lisbon — except it didn't leave until 3am, so I slept in the bus station first. The bus got into Lisbon around midday, I spent the afternoon there, flew home, and walked back into my flat at 1:30am. Four days. Two buses. Three cities. One bench. One bus station floor.

It was an absolute trip of a lifetime. But after two overnight buses and the best part of four days on the move, all I wanted was a bed. Not a £2,000 hotel. Just a bed. A spare room. Someone's sofa. Anything that wasn't a street bench in Bilbao or a bus station floor in the middle of the night.

There are local fans in every city with a spare room who would have understood exactly why I was there. AwayStays is about connecting those two people — so the next fan doesn't have to choose between a £2,000 hotel and a bus station bench.

Football travel shouldn't be a luxury. That's why I'm building this.
